Assessment guidelines – update

adminocasa January 22, 2013     No Comment

Following recent debate, here is some clarification, checked with Jane Horton, on assessment submission guidelines:
For a specific course (ie Printmaking 1 Introduction to Printmaking) can be found in the back of your coursebook. If you have been studying ‘for a long time’ you may have older copies of the criteria and OCA advise you to check that you have the most up to date version of these.
For a specific subject (ie Printmaking) the latest guidelines will be published as a document in Core Resources on the OCA student site, under your profile.
Additional guidance such as this recent article give general advice and clarification – they shouldn’t contradict guidance in the documents above, but may amplify guidance.  Also check this article on preparing portfolios.
Always check on the student website to ensure you have the most up to date set of assessment criteria (there will always be the most recent copy on there), and check for any supporting information and guidance on We Are Oca and the student website. if you can’t find them, or are in any doubt, ask your tutor or check with the OCA office. Any problems, ask an OCASA rep.

Clarification on portfolio sizes
A1 portfolios are recommended as GUIDANCE, there is no MUST here. Even if someone has produced everything as A3, laying out studies and final work mounted may bring the work up to A2 or A1 and they would therefore be advised to pick the folio size most appropriate which is unlikely to be A3 but may be A2 or A1.
