Drawing with a Knife – a day with Jessica Palmer
On the 16th of October, six OCA ladies met up for a fabulous introduction to the art of Papercutting. The group involved were a mixed bunch including Drawing, Illustration, Book Design, Textiles, Printmaking and Painting. The experience was all the richer as everyone brought their own personal take to the day.
Organised by Bryony Miles, the day was led by paper artist Jessica Palmer. Her invaluable advice, fabulous materials and a chance to discuss OCA student life over a delicious lunch made it a day to remember.
A portfolio of featuring work produced at the event is available here.
In addition, Bryony has advised us that there is a new OCA Bath/Bristol Google Group – if you live in the general area please sign up. It is hoped another meet up will be arranged shortly.
A visit to the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize in Bristol
On the 25th of October, ten OCA students met up in Bristol to attend the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 exhibition along with OCA tutor Sharon Boothroyd.
The day featured a visit to the Mshed to view the exhibition of portraits from an eclectic mix of international photographers from emerging young photographer to established professionals. Following the visit, the group enjoyed a talk from Dr. Rowe and a group discussion on the work viewed.
Each student who attended the day had their favourite portrait and took something useful away from the day. Organiser, Amano Samarpan, has written an in-depth blog about the day which is located here.
