We would like to welcome and introduce the new representative for Creative Arts, Karen Woodfield. Karen says:
After always enjoying crafts and making things, I realised something was missing from being creative. I discovered it was the ability to generate my own ideas and communicate through my work. So I joined the OCA on the Creative Arts pathway with an interest in Textiles and Photography. I chose OCA to fit in with my family commitments and benefit from the flexibility to work through different courses as my interests develop. As with many students, I am unsure whether I will progress to the degree. However the more I work through my courses I can see the possibility becoming a reality. I am enjoying the challenge of my studies and my new artistic life.
I am a regular contributor to the OCA site, facebook groups and enjoy study visits. I live in the beautiful city of Bath, Somerset, where I am an active member of the OCA Bath/Bristol group and enjoy meeting up with local students.
I am keen to support the continuing work of the OCA to develop the learning experience for their students. I have a particular interest in empowering and engaging students to work with their fellow students to create self supporting networks. I am also interested in how students develop skills in critiquing and assessing their own work and how these skills can be used to support other students.
