I am very pleased to announce we have a new candidate for the Fine Art Student Representative role on the OCASA commitee. Please find Bernadette RahoJeavans election statement below. If no further candidates come forward by 2nd May 2018 then Bernadette will be elected to the role.
I am a level 1 student on the Painting degree pathway. My profession is Graphic Design, I worked as a designer/ copywriter for ad/design agencies in London/Midlands, then /Director/Owner of a design/publishing company for 16 years employing 40+ people. Later on I ran a textiles business and retail shop.
Art has always been an interest and visiting galleries wherever I go – a must. In addition to painting & drawing I love cooking mediterranean food for friends + family and occasionally run bread-making workshops. Fascinations include decorative arts/ architecture also making/designing fashion/furnishings and I can identify any fabric. I have the RHS General (Hort) and a memory for latin plant names, I am also interested in the sciences and psychology.
I live in a tiny village in South Warwickshire, have a huge extended family and 3 x grown up sons. I am practical, hands on, have a problem solving approach and I am good listener.
As Fine Art rep I’d want to understand/advance the needs/views of all those on drawing/painting/sculpture courses. It would be great to help make connections/increase communications/ bring together disparate groups and help increase a sense of belonging and pride in OCA.
