Radical Cameos:  Sculptural Thinking, Bodiless Heads and the Early Photographic Portrait

OCA Photography tutor, Helen Warburton will talk us through the main themes and images of her 2021 MA dissertation, which won the Henry Moore Dissertation Prize for outstanding writing on contemporary, modern or historical sculpture. The study sought to argue for the significant and complex influence of sculpture on the production and conceptualisation of a specific and overlooked style of early photographic portrait, the vignetted, bust-view carte de visite.
