Great book on making your own colours from natural sources
This book was mentioned on the course I was just on. It is about to be reprinted and in the meantime if you order it you get a very useful PDF version of the book straight away. It is full of all the information and recipes you need to get started making your own colours. I am really enjoying reading it and have already been out on a bike ride to (ethically) gather some non poisonous leaves and berries.
Wild Inks and Paints by Joumana Medlej
You can view info about it, and her other books, here: https://majnouna.com/publications/#wild
If you click on the available 'in print' bit this takes you to the order area where it mentions the additional download if you order before a certain date.
PS I am not affiliated with this publication in any way and you order at your own risk etc...

Colour made from foraged plants and minerals
Last week I went on a great residential course run by Lucy and Edward from Old Mill Arts. https://www.oldmillarts.com
We made pigments, inks, paints, pastels, crayons, charcoal, tools and clay paint pots. The image below is the poster sheet I filled in during the week with all the samples we made.
If you are ever able to go on one of their courses I would recommend it. They are based in Scotland, UK but they travel around. The course I did was just north of Scarborough and organised by North Yorks Art School.
