Hand Thought is an exhibition of wooden tableware and accompanying 2D works developed by Justin Marshall. The works explore both the artistic opportunities that CNC (computer numerically controlled) technologies can hold for the maker, and questions where the line between hand and machine-made lies — if it exists at all? Justin sees tools not as neutral means to an end, but as constructive elements entangled in the creative process. This understanding of technology in making provides a foundation for his exploration and celebration of tools in a characteristically crafty way.
