F for Flanerie: The Spell of The Senses, Freud Museum London
A seminar exploring Ecology, Consciousness, Dreams in the Cinema of Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
16 July, 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
£25
This class considers the cinema of the ‘interior’, consciousness and dreams in Weerasethakul’s body of work, often referred to as ‘slow cinema’. It will ask what is at stake when we reconsider communication and imagination in the context of looking across organisms and other life forms– cinema as the perfect medium through which to convey life’s continuums and interruptions; ordinary and extraordinary, not so much a dance between life and death than a passage of consciousness. Through a range of texts from thinkers such as Nisha Ramayaa and Erika Balsom, we uncover the state of the image and its power to create a new reality.
Part of an ongoing series -F for Flânerie, with Academic and Author Davina Quinlivan.
