ACCESSIBILITY

The OCA Student Association believes in online creative arts learning that is accessible for all. We're driven to ensure students with disabilities have a voice and are supported within the OCA.

Student Stories

Emma

Since Emma was three she has been deaf, wearing hearing aids and lipreading she found it hard to “fit” in the hearing world.

At times felt like she was denied an education in mainstream school.

Emma knows that everyone’s needs are different. We cannot assume anything, so she really supports ensuring that students get what they need in order to study and make connections with fellow students.

Katie

Education for Katie has always been very important but growing up deaf and with chronic kidney disease, she found it tricky to access the same level of learning as her peers.

This has led Katie to have a keen interest in ensuring everyone is able to receive the same opportunities within higher education no matter their disability.
