About the Event
Artist and photographer Andy Hughes will be in conversation with Lizzie Perrote (ex education director at Christie's, London, and worked at National Gallery, ICA and Tate St Ives). Live from the artist's studio in Cornwall, they will discuss his work, including Dominant Wave Theory - spanning still life and landscape. This live event will be open for a Q&A session after the main presentation and also marks the launch of a new OCA Photography ‘Challenging Genres’ case study.
For almost thirty years Andy Hughes has been making images along various coastlines. Whilst studying art in the late 1980’s, Andy started surfing and began to notice all kinds of floating debris—plastic, oil drums, condoms, panty liners—washing up on the shoreline. He began making photographs. In 2006 these images were published in the groundbreaking book, 'Dominant Wave Theory’
Please note this event will be recorded. All are welcome to attend. If you are unable to make it but would like to ask a question please email it to studyevents@oca.ac.uk.
