Introduction to Critical Theory
Monday 19th January 6pm-7.30pm
Critical Theory are frameworks and methods used to analyse and interpret literature and art. In this session, learn about these in an engaging and accessible way, that will take your academic writing to the next level – especially for writing academic commentaries around art and literature, such as reflective commentaries or creative reading commentaries.
We’ll look at theories such as structuralism and post structuralism, modernism and modernism, psychoanalytic criticism, feminism, post-humanism and more, explaining how theory can actually be used.
There will be short activities around how to apply these lenses, as well as lecture slides.
This session will be run by OCA Creative Writing Tutor Rab Ferguson. Please do contact Rab with any questions around the workshop – rabferguson@oca.ac.uk
