Overall series explanation and aims:
This painting based series is designed for students from all disciplines across OCA who have limited experiences working with painting or wet fine art media. The aim is to introduce how painting practices and methodologies can support any specialism as a way of recording, experimenting and problem-solving creative ideas.
In week one, students will take part in a ‘Painting bootcamp’ consisting of short, playful tasks that introduce the freedom and immediacy of paint using low-fi household and art materials.
In week two, the focus will move to conveying feeling, atmosphere or energy through mark making, layering and colour experimentation. Working from printed or zoomed-in digital images, students will isolate small sections and focus on communicating the sensation of texture rather than producing realistic copies.
