Overall Series explanation and aims:
This research and image making focused series is designed for students from all disciplines across OCA who have limited experiences gathering primary research and using it in a creative way to develop exciting, dynamic and surprising outcomes. The aim of the series is to introduce students to the importance of primary research practices and methodologies to support any specialism as a way of extending ideas, problem-solving and considering new ways of approaching creative tasks.
Each session will begin with a 15 - 20 minute introductory talk that provides context, artistic references and links to contemporary fine art practices. The aim of this project is for students to collect their own primary research and explore it holistically through a wide range of practical processes. This will help demonstrate the importance of analysis, careful observation and sustained investigation within art making.
