Just Be Yourself: The Journey Towards Authenticity in Photography

Justin Partyka believes that to truly discover the authentic photographs that only you must take, you have to search deep inside yourself and follow your heart and gut instinct.

For this session Justin will talk about his own idiosyncratic journey in photography: how he ended up being a photographer, what photography means to him, why he does it and how he thinks about it. This is a talk that is probably not going to provide you with many answers. But hopefully it will inspire you to perhaps think about photography in new ways and have many questions to ponder about your own life as a photographer.

Justin will present photographs from this vast archive of over twenty years of work, including many previously unseen images that he will select especially for this talk. Justin will also share a special preview from a forthcoming feature length documentary film that he is currently editing.

Justin intends that this session will evolve into a discussion so please be prepared to have lots of questions.  A selection of images will be shared with you before the talk.

Photographs from this work have appeared in a number of publications and been exhibited widely including at Tate Britain (London), the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (Norwich), and the Boutographies photo festival (Montpellier).
