About the Event
Mail Art and correspondence work has been an active way of collaborating and sharing art, without the pressures of working with a gallery, since the 1960s. It is a process which is inclusive, inventive and imaginative. For this Keeping up Momentum session, Pushing the Envelope, OCA tutor Diana Ali will share her projects and work based on this theme and show how the physical sharing of work can become viral and globally participatory.
Students will work with provocations which will then be posted to another and concluded with a collaborative element. You are required to be open minded, be playful and willing to share work. You will need your art materials, envelopes, blank postcards/blank cards and sketchbook (and/or camera phone and access to a printer). Processes that will be involved could be text, collage, drawing, textiles, sculpture, painting, music and photography.
Be prepared to make work and be able to…
