OCA MA Private View: Igneous

As a group of artists, we have become a unified whole, reflecting on the natural world's inherent value and the process of life. The balance of our collective work brings together old materials that reflect a time and need for change, and a hint towards a possible future with a simultaneous sensitivity to the present.

You are invited to join in the contemplative and reflective spaces of this MA group exhibition, which naturally appears as a journey across physical and temporal barriers. We are all living in challenging times, facing environmental, ecological, political and humanitarian discourse, which drives a longing for a more humanistic and spiritual connection and a sustainable future and way of living.

Building a unified and transformed future of coexistence through collective communities which expresses our solidarity within a symbioses kinship with all non-human and more than human species, alliances must be based on recognising and appreciating the world's many-layered differences, and forging a connection back to Mother Earth.

As with Igneous rock emerging from the harshest of possible conditions, it gives us hope that we can still swim in the tide of life, grow and realize that even from the conflicts we have within the world today, there is still time for humanity to build the strength of character needed to bring harmony and balance in life.
