OCA Photography Social Group: Christiane Monarchi

Christiane Monarchi is the co-director of HAPAX, an independent lens-based arts organisation commissioning the creation of new images and ideas in the biannual print publication HAPAX Magazine, and hosting photographic exhibitions and events in the HAPAX Living Room project space. She also runs Photomonitor online magazine, which has published more than 1,400 features since 2011. She regularly reviews artists’ portfolios, mentors artists and has served on the boards of several not-for-profit art institutions, including Photofusion. Currently she is a Trustee of the Centre for British Photography.

She has long been interested in how artists decide to start new projects. One of the reasons she created Photomonitor was to create the opportunity to conduct and commission interviews with artists, who talk about their practice in their own words.…
