So25 - Where I am: exploring a site or place, natural or built environment.

This is not a workshop about finding solace in Nature or in a built-up area but about using writing to discover the area.  So you will be asked to choose a site: eg.  garden, park, woodland, hillside, lake, shopping mall, residential street, factory, building site, demolition site.  And to explore it and make notes, photos, drawings,  before the workshop if possible (but this is not essential).  A padlet with background articles, photos, poems will be available.

Description of activity

You will be asked to walk (in person or imagination) through the chosen area and describe where it is, its purpose, its buildings, people, plants, animals, made and found objects.

• Take a sound walk, or imagine a sound walk through the area.

• Now take a sensory walk: be responsive to sight, smell and feel.
