About the Event


Join this Summer of Sustainability Workshop 2025 and try something new. Taking the idea of a materials economy in interior design as a starting point, we will be exploring the differences between a circular economy and a linear economy. Through discussion we will try to better understand what this could mean in terms of material choices, and how that then impacts on our design decisions.


We will look at the concept from two opposing sides and test our ideas through guided debate, challenging any pre-existing ideas we might have.

Students will have the opportunity to present one found object, and describe it in terms of its material ‘value’ - circular, linear or otherwise.


Structure/content: The session will comprise foregrounding knowledge, and then lively discussion around the idea of a circular economy, in particular relating to materials choices in interior design practice. Students will have the opportunity to ‘take sides’ and explore…
