About the Event
The first workshop in our Summer of Sustainability 2025 series is a work-shop on Tataki-zomé, which is a Japanese art form where natural dyes from flowers and leaves are transferred onto fabric by hammering them onto the surface.
The session will start with a slide show about this Japanese art form with a simple demonstration of the technique. Students will follow this by trialling the technique with flora that they will bring to the session. We will then go on to discuss with examples some of the fundamentals of how textile design is created thinking about motifs, repeats, balance and movement. Students will then go on to create a designed example of Tataki-zomé either on paper or fabric.
Everyone is welcome but spaces are limited. Please note the event will be recorded.
