"It took me a while to understand the concept at all when I started out. I didn't even understand why a process beyond sitting and drawing was necessary. It seemed like the course materials were demanding superfluous and unnecessary steps from me. It sounds silly now, but I was frustrated! I didn't get that I was being taught how to bridge that mysterious gap between myself and "real" artists. The thing I was sure was innate for others, but not for me."
