SVF26: Sarah-Jane Field - Alumna Talk

Since graduating with BA (hons) in Photography at OCA, Sarah-Jane Field has followed a hugely  dynamic and eclectic path, and describing her as ‘a photographer’ wouldn’t do justice to her range of interests. An artist and writer who engages with image, text, language games, and abandoned odds and sods, she is interested in the way narrative is integral to how we think and relate to each other, and in how algorithmic and networked technologies, troubling as they are, also unsettle deeply inscribed, supposedly natural ways of being, socially, politically, and philosophically.  

As well as talking about and showing examples of her work, SJ will also discuss the thorny issue of life after graduation and how to carve out and maintain a life as a maker in a world that seems to be much more keen on the products of artists’ efforts than actually paying them for their time  and labour.
