Wendy Healey: OCA L3 Student Artist talk

Wendy’s OCA Artist Talk will comprise of an in-conversation talk with Psychotherapist/ Art Therapist Maureen Begadon, filmed at Wendy’s home studio prior to her degree show on 28 April -14 May at DAA gallery Sutton Coldfield. The film will be followed by a question and answer discussion.

In-conversation Wendy’s discusses her current Exhibition body of work and her transition into 3D sculptural painting practice. She reflects on the significant impact and influence of child psychotherapy, materiality and her environment on her making. The talk considers how the concept of the in-between permeates her sculptural work reflecting the conscious and unconscious interplay between our internal and external worlds. Wendy sources and collects materials from her home, garden and rural surroundings and Intuitively follows the rhythm of these natural and manufactured materials as they emit an energy and life of their own. Wendy describes her interest in abjection and how through her making reveals the abject. Her forms and non-forms can attract and repel, evoke beauty and disgust. They expose what is often hidden and misunderstood: physical, psychological and emotional aspects of being human.

Wendy’s intention is to create interactive stimulating artwork that encourages curiosity and reflection to explore our internal and external landscapes.
