About

My practice is concerned with coastal erosion in my locality, specifically, the objects and debris left embedded in the sand following severe weather. I collect materials such as plastics, wire and fragments of rope and 'embed' them into the canvas using monoprint and paint. Then I add and wash away layers of paint, referencing erosive processes in nature. I observe the incongruities of manmade materials, which often assume organic characteristics during the painting process and which evoke the entanglement of mankind and the natural world.
