Discussion Points for Good Pop, Bad Pop
For anyone who didn't see this in the forum😁:
What is the appeal of collecting items?
Do you collect items? If so, what do you collect? (and do you categorise/sort/store your items in any particular way?)
Are there any items that Jarvis Cocker spoke about that resonated with you?
Are you interested in seeing other peoples’ collections? What about other collections do you find interesting?
Do you get nostalgic looking at items from the past (What about listening to music or watching films? Do places trigger memories for you?)?
Thinking about items you own, is there anything you would like to organise or part ways with? (or is there anything you threw out / lost which you wish you still had?)
Time can sometimes colour the way we look at things we used to enjoy (fashion is a popular example, especially with the speed that style changes) - has this happened to you?
People sometimes collect in a creative or expressive way - such as photograph albums, scrapbooks, and diaries - do you record your life in this way?
Other people’s collections are fascinating, Nina! Especially the vintage and historical items. I love looking at old historical photographs of people and places. I tend to not have clutter, but I do keep some things that have meaning and remind me of beautiful moments. I kept a gallery visit ticket stub that was particularly memorable. It wasn’t a special occasion just a really beautiful day. I collect my thoughts and any uplifting and heart-inspiring words and poetry in my digital journal!
