Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

WRAP was created by Mary Ellen Copeland (2002), and it is a non-clinical tool that can be used to support you in managing your own mental health. We all have mental health; it is important to ensure that we look after this as we do with our physical health. This tool covers a range of activities that helps us identify things that work well for us but also things that don’t.

OCA's Student Engagement Adviser and member of the Learner Support Team, Lauren Kenworthy, has put together a short resource to help you create your own Wellness Recovery Action Plan. You can access the WRAP toolkit on OCA Learn here.

Including OCA's Wellbeing App.

OCA's free smartphone app is designed to support you by developing your resilience, study skills and overall wellbeing. Packed full of tips and tricks, podcasts that teach you new techniques, and challenges that assist you in creating new positive habits, this app is a great sidekick to your studies.

The app is built on the principle of five steps to mental health set out by the NHS (Be active, Connect, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Giving) and provides you with the tools to start building healthy, positive habits into your everyday life. Creating small habits in each area can boost your wellbeing, and help you to become healthier and happier.

You can take part in challenges with other students across other Universities, and become part of a global wellbeing community.

The app also includes Charley, a digital wellbeing coach who can help guide you to build and maintain your wellbeing plan.

This is available to all OCA students. Accessible through the Google Play and iTunes App Stores, to register and use the app all you need is your oca.ac.uk email address. When you sign in, you will be asked to confirm your email address and click on the link in the subsequent email to get up and running.
