Monoprinting with plant extract 'paints'

Hi everyone. I thought I would just post a PDF info sheet I have just made on monoprinting with a Gelli plate.

It's debatable how eco a Gelli plate is, they are made from mineral oil, but if you have one already you should use it. In their favour they are vegan and can be reused hundreds of times. You can make one yourself but the recipes I have seen call for glycerin (there is a vegetable-based version) and gelatine (definitely an animal product so I personally wouldn’t use it). If anyone has experimented with making one please let me know.

Anyway my monoprinting is created using left over plant-extract and plant-based medium screen printing ‘paints’. The full information on how to make the eco screenprinting ‘paints’ and how to print with them, and use them in monoprinting, can be found in the 'In Your Own Time' Activity Book section of the OCA Arts, the Environment & Sustainability VLE course.

Why not ditch the acrylic paint and give it a go!
