Soil show at Somerset House, London...

Hi all, this show may be of interest to the group, also has a program of talks and events...

"Through a range of artworks, artefacts and innovative approaches, visitors are invited to reconsider the crucial role soil plays in our planet's health. The exhibition delivers a message of hope and urgency, encouraging a more sustainable, harmonious relationship with the Earth—if we choose to act now... "

I saw this exhibition the other day. It was quite a soothing experience, with some beautiful film and 'quiet' artworks. I think it's the sort of exhibition where often you see ideas for art beginning to unfurl ... For example, one of the exhibitors collects soil samples to make rough coloured marks on paper ... but only that, I believe. I think there are a number of artists who use soil/mineral samples in their location-based work, and for me, they are creating some really visually appealing pieces. In addition, quite a lot of the scientific info I'd already come across as I'm a keen gardener and I read about gardening, re-wilding and the like. That said, it is mind-blowing science.
