An exhibition of emerging printmaking talent
18 September – 29 October 2022
Introducing Fleur Ward, Bachittar Singh, Holly Clayton and Maria Gomez – new UK printmaking talent from West Yorkshire Print Workshop and the University of Huddersfield.
Showcasing some of the best young printmakers in the North of England, this exhibition seeks to spotlight upcoming talent and give a platform to exhibit new work and an insight into printmaking practices. This body of work from four artists explores representation, identity, portraiture, organic forms and the natural world. Using a range of printmaking processes from etching and aquatint to screen printing, lino, digital printing and spore printing from mushrooms, the exhibition stretches thinking and showcases new talent. Holly and Maria were talent spotted from their graduate showcase at the end of the University term by the West Yorkshire Print Workshop (WYPW) team while Bachittar and Fleur have been on a year long Print Fellowship scheme to immerse themselves in printmaking at WYPW. The resulting exhibition is fun, thought-provoking and an exciting look into emerging talent in the North. The work is on show at the Bath House Gallery in the Toast House on the edge of the University campus – a contemporary, light space – perfect to showcase fine artwork
