Leeds Lit Fest 2023 is back! Join us from Saturday 25 Feb - Sunday 5 March. Returning for its fifth year, the city’s award-winning festival of words and thought will take place across a diverse range of the city’s spaces and aims to bring together, and help develop, the city’s literary scene, with writers, poets and performers from the UK and beyond. This year’s festival will tie in with Leeds 2023, the citywide celebration of culture and will interweave themes of untold stories, radical acts, playful adventures and future generations The festival which is organised by a number of cultural organisations in the city, will engage audiences in over 50 events aimed to appeal not just to lovers of books and the written word but also to appeal to audiences who would never normally consider going to a literature festival. This eclectic approach to the programme will see comedy, cabaret, a literature quiz, film screening, art exhibition, theatre performance and creative workshops sitting alongside more traditional literary talks, book readings and poetry events. There's an extensive children's programme too!

If you have always wanted to draw but have not known where to start, this course is for you. Although aimed at beginners, this course is also useful for those who want to recap the fundamentals. Over five weeks, you will learn, develop and overcome doubts in your ability through learning the key techniques: mark making, measurement, perspective, tone, line and composition. Filled with ample opportunities to practice and improve, this course will ensure you have gained a practical understanding of the fundamentals to build confidence, working with art historical references and observational studies culminating in a finished composition.
