Nigel Cheney is an embroiderer, surface designer and textile artist who lives and works in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. He held the position of Lecturer in Embroidered Textiles at National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Ireland from 1993 until his move from full-time lecturing in 2017 to return to the UK. His academic roles have embraced Acting Head of Department as well as all aspects of Fashion and Textile Design as external examiner for several institutions across fashion and textiles.
His range of expertise and teaching skills covers all aspects of visual research, sketchbook and idea development, drawing, colour, trends, market research, visual and verbal presentation, hand and machine embroidery, digital stitch, couture embellishments, print design, CAD, textile sampling, branding, brand development, range building and garment realisation.
