Catch up with the new issue of Edge zine

Updated: Mar 10, 2022

The theme for this edition is Identity and it features work from across a wide variety of artistic disciplines, from 36 OCA students and alumni. The featured artworks begin to illustrate the infinite ways in which we see and communicate our sense of identity.

Although there may be many cultural conventions relating to identity, it is through our own individual experiences, that we can truly feel and describe our own identity.

This is the first time that I have contributed to the publication and I really wished that I had participated earlier. My excuse was always that I was already too busy with my course work to take on any more distractions!

But selecting our own artwork, writing about what inspired and motivated us to make that work, that's the rewarding bit. And then putting the work out into the world and seeing the finished article, initially daunting - but ultimately so fulfilling.

So this can be a really great way to introduce the idea of how your work might reach a wider audience. As I progress ever closer to Level 3, this is certainly something that becomes increasingly relevant.

Huge thanks to Catherine Banks editor, Sophie Edwards editor, Michael Green editor, Amy-Sarah Opitz designer who give up their own time to make Edge zine happen.

The edge zine is a non-profit, student-led, art publication showcasing the work of students and alumni from the Open College of Arts.
