Since May 2025 I have been working with Music student Paul Logghe on Fine Art course 2.2 Experimental Encounters. This module focusses on collaboration and experimentation rather than completed works.
Initially we explored how art can be interpreted musically and how music can be
interpreted into art. These experiments resulted in our ‘Jazz’ and ‘Paintings’ videos which can be viewed below.
We moved on to create ‘Fragments of a Dull Day’ which is a time-based work exploring
unnoticed intervals of everyday life.
On 9 August 2025, at three predetermined times and two time zones, we each filmed a 30 second clip of whatever lay in front of us. The results were edited into a silent-film aesthetic with shifting speeds and atmospheres and text interwoven with ‘glitch’ graphics challenging the relationship between analogue and digital, past and present. The score was composed in direct response to the shifting scenes of the film.
We would love to hear how you, as a viewer, experience our films. Your responses,
whether immediate impressions or longer reflections will help us understand the
impact of our cross-disciplinary experiments and where they might lead next. Does
anything stay with you after watching – what do you notice first – how do they make you
feel?
You can watch Fragments of a Dull Day below and please do send us your feedback to Teresa526597@ocs.ac.uk and Paul.525329@oca.ac.uk.
Thank you!
